Test Procedure:
- Open the top slide cover on the Vive and disconnect the 3-in-1 cable.
- Disconnect the 3-in-1 cable from the linkbox and set it aside.
- Set the Vive on top your PC and disconnect the HDMI and USB cables from the linkbox that go to the PC, but leave them plugged into the PC.
- Disconnect the power cable from the linkbox that goes to the wall.
- Plug the short USB and HDMI cable that comes from the PC directly into the top of the Vive and do the same from the power cable.
- You should now have a short HDMI cable going directly from your PC to the top of the Vive and same thing for the short USB. The power cable should be going from the wall plug directly to the top of the Vive also.
- Restart your PC.
- Start Steam and SteamVR and make sure your lighthouses are on.
- See if your screens work and move the headset some to test tracking while looking down the lenses.
- If all is working now, then it is highly likely to be a faulty 3-in1 cable and needs to be replaced.
- The other possibility here in a faulty linkbox. Which can be tested by hooking the short cables back up to the linkbox and using substitute USB, HDMI and power cables if you have them available to go from the linkbox to the top of the Vive.
